SSL for Hosted FTP Backup Service

There have been some questions regarding SSL for the hosted, managed FTP backup serivce.  The answer is, YES, the Availanet hosted, managed backup serivce supports the encryption of the control and data channels using TLS security mechanism.  The criteria is that you have a client that can support encrypted transfer.  Simply select TLS as your encryption type from your client and you should be all set.  You use the exact same credentials as you would for an unencrypted service.

As for some clients that support TLS for secure transfer:

1) Filezilla (Linux/Windows GUI):    https://filezilla-project.org/
2
) WinSCP: (Windwos GUI): https://winscp.net/eng/index.php
3
) Linux Command Line: lftp    http://lftp.yar.ru/     (uses TLS by default if enabled)

Enjoy!
